Kandangan, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - South Hulu Sungai (HSS) District Police Chief Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) Siswoyo stated his side is committed serious in dealing with land and forest fire, and said two land and forest arsonists caught last year had been sentenced.
He said, one was sentenced to one year and the other to one and a half years. While the handling of land and forest fire, including in the district of HSS, received attention and appreciation from both the South Kalimantan Provincial Police and the National Police Headquarters.
"TNI, Polri, companies, the district government, community and all related stakeholders in HSS should have a united determination to prevent the land and forest fire," he said in his remarks at the PT Antang Gunung Meratus (AGM) land and forest fire alert ceremony, Friday (July 10, 2020).
He said, based on the inspection conducted by his party, PT AGM was complete both from the preparation of the fleet, equipment, and others.

Even though PT AGM has recorded no fire in the company's environment in 2019, and it is also expected this year, but is requested to be ready and immediately gives help whenever asked by the surrounding area in the HSS.
Based on BMKG, the dry season to occur in Agust, but all parties were asked to be prepared early, so if hotspot found can be extinguished immediately.
Commander of (Dandim) 1003 Kandangan Military Command Lt.Col. Arm. Dedy Soehartono said the key to handling land and forest fire is the synergy or related parties, from the upstream to downstream sectors.
Deficiencies in disaster mitigation last year shoud be evaluated and what need to be improved is done this year, so as to minimize the occurance of land and forest fire.
