Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Kotabaru's Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has recorded the highest deflation in Kalimantan stood at 0,49 percent occurred in the district, and the lowest was in Pontianak at 0,08 percent.
"While the highest inflation occurred in Tarakan at 0,20 percent and the lowest in Balikpapan 0,02 percent," said the Kotabaru Administration's Assistant for Economy and Development H. Akhmad Rivai, Saturday.
The fact was known after the Kotabaru BPS collecting data on Consumer Price Index (IHK) of Kalimantan and found 10 cities experienced deflation while inflation occurred in two cities.
Rivai said, deflation in Kotabaru in April 2020 due to falling prices as indicated by IHK of some commodities groups, namely the group of food, beverage, and tobacco 1,14 percent and a group of transportation 1,60 percent.
However, an increase occurred to the group of housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuel 0,09 percent, group of equipment, tools, dan household maintenance 0,30 percent, group health 0,30 percent, and a group of personal care and other services 1,53 percent.
Commodities that fall in price share the highest deflation in Kotabaru were chicken meat 0,57 percent, air transportation 0,20 percent, mackerel 0,16 percent, squid 0,09 percent and wet shrimp 0,08 percent.

Rivai acknowledged, there was a significant price increase of sugar to reach Rp20.000 per kg compared to market operation held by Bulog KCP Kotabaru with a set price of Rp12.500 per kg.
Likewise, the price of hot chili at the main market of Kemakmuran Kotabaru reached Rp60.000 per kg.
