Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - The government of Banjarmasin still confused to accept an offer from the Polish state technology to manage waste in landfills.
Head of the Banjarmasin Sanitation and Gardening Agency Mukyar told reporters here on Tuesday, that the technology they offer rather difficult to apply in Banjarmasin which has marshy land. The land is different from that of Poland or other regions.
In the Polish technology, waste in the landfill is placed in a large container by digging a big hole. Then the garbage is placed in the hole to be processed.
But it is not possible in Banjarmasin to excavate soil. If digging the land, water will come out because of it marshy land. Making ​​pond with concrete construction is also not in accordance with the technology they offer, that why the government confused to accept the offer.
"Unless the Poles provide an alternative that can be implemented in the city, so it is possibilities to be done. City Government is still waiting for the follow-up of the offer," he said.
Last Friday (7/3), seven members of the Polish government delegation visited Banjarmasin to offers a range of waste treatment technologies. The delegation accompanied by officials of the state Ministry of Environment and Indonesian Ambassador to Poland Dr. Darmansjah Djumala. They welcomed by Banjarmasin Mayor Haji Muhidin and all officials in the municipal government.
Mayor Haji Muhidin told reporters the Polish delegation offers a range of waste treatment technologies in landfill
sites . In addition, they offer a wastewater treatment technologies to be clean and drinkable.
