Banjarmasin , South Kalimantan (Antaranews ) - PT PLN South and Central Kalimantan Region now has about 65 Mega Watt (MW) surplus of power, mainly for household and public services.
"Excess power is in line with the fully operation of plant units 3 and 4 at the Steam Power Plant (PLTU) Asam-Asam (about 125 km east of Banjarmasin)," said Chairman of South Kalimantan Legislative Assembly (DPRD) Commission III on construction and infrastructure H Puar Junaidi, after hearing opinion with the state company here on Wednesday.
However, said the Chairman of the Commission which is also in charge of mining and energy (including electricity), the South and Central Kalimantan PLN management will build power plant units 5 and 6 Asam-Asam.
"In addition to adding power, we also expect a maximum of PLN's best services, such as reducing the rate of blackout (power outage)," said Puar.
PLN PR Sucahyo stated, even it had a spare of 65 MW and will add another 20 MW, but for industries (including hotels) still have to be using their own generators during peak hours between 18:00 to 22:00 pm. ***
