Banjarbaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Banjarbaru Mayor Nadjmi Adhani was awarded Dwija Praja Nugraha award 2019 by the Central Board of the Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI) for his commitment to advancing the quality of education.
Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makarim handed over the award to the mayor at the commemoration of 74th Anniversary of PGRI and National Teacher's Day on November 30, 2019, in Bekasi, West Java.
Dwija Praja Nugraha is the highest appreciation from teachers (PGRI) to regional head who have a high commitment in advancing the quality of education and improving the welfare of teachers.
Banjarbaru mayor, who has served for more than three years, has done many things during his leadership to improve the quality of education and care for the welfare of teachers.

The city government has many programs in promoting and improving the quality of education, such as Character Education Program to instill 5 values in students.
Those values include religious values, ethics, love of the motherland, love the environment and good at entrepreneurship, thus the students in addition to good in morals also have the ability to do business in various sector.

The city government also continues to support the use of information technology to facilitate and advance the quality of education to make better human resources.
Mayor said, the city government had made effort to improve the quality of education and teachers welfare by providing incentives to teacher, both state and private schools.
Including the contribution and transportation cost for state teachers, who took Teachers Professional Education (PPG) for position, and training to improve teachers competency.
