Batulicin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement Team (TP-PKK) of Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan, keeps intensifying efforts to prevent stunting through family quality improvement, including nutrition education and fish consumption promotion.
Chairperson of the Tanah Bumbu TP-PKK Andi Irmayani here on Saturday said that her team is focus on raising community awareness of the importance of balanced nutrition, monitoring child growth and development, and to ensure the availability of adequate health services and sanitation.
"In addition, Tanah Bumbu PKK also participated in all-fish cooking contest organized by the provincial government of South Kalimantan as a means of encouraging culinary creativity and promoting nutrition," she said.
Tanah Bumbu won third place in the contest for family menu category, with the challange of preparing milkfish and patin (pangasius) fish into snacks, family meals, and toddlers meals.

"Alhamdulillah, this achievement is the result of our joint efforts. The menu we served was not only delicious but also nutritious, meeting family health standards. Hopefully this will motivate us to continue educating people about the importance of eating fish," said Irmayani.
The contest, she said, was in line with the national dan regional programs to alleviate stunting rate by ensuring balanced nutrition.
This success demonstrates the potential of Tanah Bumbu's local culinary delights, capable of competing at the provincial level, as well as a campaign to encourage people to increase fish consumption for the health of families and children.
"Let's eat fish, keep our family healthy, and prevent stunting," she pointed out.
The Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI), the main reference for accelerating stunting reduction efforts, pegged stunting prevalence in the district at 21.6 percent in 2024, down from 25.1 percent.
Tanah Bumbu Regent Andi Rudi Latif said that this achievement was the result of cross-sector collaboration, involving community and private sector through various strategic programs.
"Stunting is a serious challange that must be addressed to achieve quality human resource development," he said.
