Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - University of Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) Rector Prof Dr H Sutarto Hadi challanged lecturers who held a doctoral degree (S3) to immediately reach the highest academic rank as professor and offered them IDR500 million as research fund.
"I do not hesitate to give fund from IDR250 million to IDR500 million for each lecturer as long as the target is clear. It will produce new professors in ULM," he remarked here on Monday (Oct 14, 2019).
Sutarto speaking after inaugurated Dr Hj Aslamiah, MPd, PhD, an Education Management Professor for the Faculty of Teaching Education (FKIP) in ULM Rectorate in Banjarmasin.

He targeted 100 professors in four year of his leadership of his second period as ULM rector. 100 professor means about 10 percent of all 1,200 ULM lecturers currently.
Sutarto pointed out that the target is realistic considering of about 320 lecturers now hold doctoral degrees with their scientific works and publication recognized worldwide in international journals.
"I have checked the ULM lecturers' publication. Thereby I hope from young lecturers with their pleanty of works will accelerate the process of professor," he said.

Sutarto determined in 2020 to disburst a minimum of IDR20 billion for research fund or 10 times increase from now. With a bigger fund then a lecturer obliged to research program it is believed to generate a lot publication with a variety of innovation. Thus the target of one study program one professor will be achieved.
The inaguration of Proffessor Dr Hj Aslamiah made the biggest university in South Kalimantan to have a total of 49 active professors. Throughout 2019 up till now ULM has produced seven professors.
