Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - People who live around forest areas also play a role in supporting environmental protection and conservation efforts. One of which is through the Community of Forest Ranger Partners (MMP) who are active in various forest protections, said KPH Tabalong official.
"The formation of the community can help with the task of forest rangers which are still limited in number," explained the Head of KPH Tabalong Forest Protection Section Zainal Abidin.
As a start, the Forest Management Units (KPH) have recruited 10 people as members of the MMP in Jaro Village and Garagata Village, Jaro Sub-district. These two villages in the North Tabalong region are located around a fairly extensive production forest area.
The residents who are members of MMP receive training related to forest protection in general and rapid response tests.
"The Tabalong KPH working area is very broad and not comparable with the number of the rangers force, so we need to do community empowerment," explained Zainal.
