Batulicin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - A coal company PT Borneo Indobara (BIB) plays its role in supporting corn self-sufficiency in Jombang Village, Tanah Bumbu District, South Kalimantan Province.
"Alhamdulillah (Thank God), farmers group assisted by PT BIB in Jombang Village has just harvested corn on 10 hectares of land," said representative of PT BIB Management Mufti Ali here on Saturday (February 15,2025).
He said it was their first corn harvest with the yield of six to seven tons per hectare.
The corn produced uses two-cob hybrid corn seeds, because the seeds have high productivity advantages compared to other seeds.

The two-cob seeds are resistant to pests and diseases, suitable for planting in various soil and weather conditions, and can provide better and more yields.
To absorb the corn harvest, PT BIB is also building animal feed factory in Karang Indah Village, Angsana Sub-district, with a production capacity of 50 tons/month.
"So, farmers don't need to worry about their corn harvest where to sell, because PT BIB has built an animal feed factory and the harvest can be sold to the factory," he explained.
So far, the production of animal feed at the factory still lack of raw material. To cover this, PT BIB plants corn in several villages assisted by the company through corn feed center program.
"PT BIB is committed to continuing to assist communities in villages to develop businesses toward economic independent through farmer groups, MSMEs, and training," he said.
