Banjarmasin, (Antaranews, South Kalimantan) - Mohammad Abdullah, a baby with hydrocephalus (3.5 months), who has been five days in intensive care in H Damanhuri General Hospital in Barabai, Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST), was only able to drink instant milk.
Abdullah's mother, Istiqamah, found in the child care room at the hospital on Monday said, "My child can not be given mother’s milk because his condition does not allow the milk to be picked up as there is swelling in his head," he said.
Arpani and Istiqomah, a young couple, and Abdullah is the first child of the fruit of their love. Currently, Abdullah was in the process of restoration of health, having previously only get sober treatment at home.
Arpani said the family's economic condition is very mediocre, so it does not have a cost for the treatment of his son. His income as a farmer just enough to eat everyday.
Villagers of Jaranih RT. 2 sub-District Pandawan, told during pregnancy Istiqamah never fetus through ultrasound examination because there is no charge.
"As a baby, the midwife checked me and said my baby is breech, so as to give birth to go through surgery, it turns his head had abnormalities such as swelling," he said.
Gratefully, Abdullah is now getting help from the government in the form of community health assurance (Jamkesmas), so they can get treatment without any cost whatsoever.
"I really hope our children can recover and grow like other babies," she said.
The HST Chief of Health Agency Kusudiarto said, when he heard there was a hydrocephalus patients, the health office requested that the baby is hospitalized through cost medical treatment.
"After the baby's condition recovers, we will take steps in accordance with the conditions and his physical development," he said.
