The City Government of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, is targeting that this year 95 percent of its residents receive health service coverage with no distinction by collaborating with state health insurer BPJS kesehatan.
 
Banjarmasin Mayor H Ibnu Sina here on Thursday said that the city government through Health Office had held a meeting with BPJS kesehatan and all heads of community health centers (puskesmas) for the implementation of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

The meeting, according to him, was important to ensure that the city residents are fully guaranteed health service programs without discrimination.
 
"At the same time we are evaluating the readiness to implement Universal Health Coverage with a target of 95 percent of Banjarmasin City residents," he said.

The city government, he said, allocates IDR17 billion for the success of the implementation of the target this year.
 
He pointed out that the city government continues to be committed to increasing this coverage in the following years until it reaches 100 percent.

"For 2025 the target will be increased to 98 percent with the support of a planned budget of IDR39.8 billion," he expounded.
 
This is the city's concrete step to provide a maximum health services to the community, especially residents from lower economic classes.
 
"This is a happiness for us all and good news for residents of Banjarmasin. So, who ever is a resident of Banjarmasin who is sick, all they have to do is show their KTP or ID card can be served under BPJS kesehatan," he explained.
