The Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) informed that there is no reports from residents that they felt any jolt or rattle of a magnitude 3.3 shallow earthquake that hit the district on Thursday morning.

Chief Executive of Kotabaru BPBD Hendra Indrayana when confirmed here on the same day said that his side immediately contacted a number of teams at the sub-districts to find out the impact of the quake.

“We immediately searched for this information, trying to contact several friends in the sub-districts, but there was no information about any vibration,” he said.

Hendra added that he also contacted one of village heads in Kepulauan Tengah Sub-district in Kotabaru, and no one felt any jolt.

“If there is any (other) information regarding the quak, we will immediately provide further information,” said Hendra.

Previously, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that a magnitude 3.3 earthquake has rattled the district of Kotabaru, Thursday morning, around 10.28 a.m. 

It was centered on the land about 68 kilometers southeast of Tanah Bumbu at a depth of 6 kilometers.
