The government of Kotabaru, south Kalimantan, to immediately provide assistance for people affected by Pasar Selasa fire in Geronggang village, Kelumpang Tengah Sub-district.

"The aid distribution Insya Allah to be carried out by the regional government through BPBD and related agencies," said Chief of Kotabaru BPBD Hendra Indrayana here on Wednesday.

Based on direction of Kotabaru Regent, he said, the assistance in the form of basic necessities will be distributed to residents affected by the disaster.

The regent instructed to quickly provide assistance and services to people who are victims of the fire accident.

"To be sent quickly, while we are preparing the assistance, because food packages for fire victims are not items that can be stocked. We immediately prepare aid when disaster occur," he said.

Head of Geronggang Village Rian Hidayat said right now people who are suffering from the fire disaster need short-term assistance in the form of food, mattresses, and others for daily needs.

"In the meantime, the affected have taken refuge to their relatives around the Geronggang area," said Rian

He expected that the government aid for fire victims to be imediately distributed to ease their burden.

Pasar Selasa (Tuesday Market), a densely populated area in Geronggang, Kelumpang Tengah, Kotabaru District, was engulfed in fire on Tuesday night at 20.15 p.m.

The fire destroyed 20 kiosks or stalls and 10 residents' houses.
