The Governor of South Kalimantan H Sahbirin Noor has been named the Chairman of the World Bubuhan (people of) Banjar Harmony.

He replaced the former Governor of South Kalimantan H Rudy Ariffin (2005-2010 and 2010-2015).

Rudy Ariffin stated that he was resigning because he had been the chairman for a very long time since this organization was formed as a place for communication and friendly gathering among Banjarese around the world.

He said there should be a regeneration of a new leader to replace him at the VI Banjar Cultural Congress December 13-15, 2022 in Banjarmasin.

Rudy Ariffin proposed that the chairman of the harmony (KKB) be held by the highest regional leader in South Kalimantan, namely the governor, and so on automatically.

As a follow-up to this instruction, the formation team for the election of the general chairperson of the Central KKB led by Irianto Lambri held an audience with the Governor of South Kalimantan H Sahbirin Noor.

Irianto (former Governor of North Kalimantan) came to the official residence of the Governor of South Kalimantan accompanied by other formation team, namely H Noor Alamsyah (Head of KBB East Java), H Muhammad Arfani (Head of KBB Riau Islands) and Taufik Arbain (Special Staff to the Governor of South Kalimantan).

Irianto stated that the Governor of South Kalimantan, who is more familiarly called Uncle Birin, is willing to become the next general chairman of world Bubuhan Banjar Harmony.

"So he (Uncle Birin) asked for the inauguration before January 26 or before Haul (memorial ceremony of) Guru Sekumpul," he said.

"So he wants to invite banjarese in Indonesia and abroad to attend to meet and make pilgrimages," he said.

The governor of South Kalimantan, in his official release, expressed his gratitude for the trust the KBB formation team had in believing him to be chairman.

He also hopes that Banjar residents who are living away from banua (homeland) will continue to maintain solidarity and harmony together.
