The South Kalimantan Task Force for the Acceleration of COVID-19 Handling reported that five districts had zero patients as of Wednesday (Dec 28, 2022).
The five districts were Kotabaru, Banjar, Tapin, South Hulu Sungai (HSS), and Tanah Bumbu.
The team also reported that on the same day there was an addition of eight COVID-19 patients coming from the Districts of Balangan 6, Central Hulu Sungai (HST) and Banjarmasin City 1 person each.
The increase brought the total number of COVID-19 cases in South Kalimantan to 88.895 since the pandemic was declared in March 2020. Some 94 people are still being treated.
Most of patients being treated were from Banjarmasin 43, Balangan 19, Tanah Laut 18, North Hulu Sungai (HSU) 4.
Furthermore, from Barito Kuala District and Central Hulu Sungai each 3, Banjarbaru City and Tabalong District 2 people each.
The toll was reduced from the previous day, as it was reported that as many as 21 patients had recovered. They were from Balangan 19, and Banjabaru 2, makaing the total number of recoveries in South Kalimantan during the pandemic 86.202 people or 96.97 percent.
Meanwhile, the death toll due to COVID-19 in the province has not increased today, the toll is still 2,599 people or 2.92 percent.
Head of South Kalimantan Health Office Dr Diauddin here asked residents to remain disciplined in applying health protocol, even though cases of COVID-19 continue to decline.
"The COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet, so we are all continue to be be vigilant, get vaccinated immediately," he said.
