Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Kotabaru District learns to manage marine tourism potential from the Government of Wakatobi, Southeast Sulawesi.


"One of the goal to Wakatobi is exchange of information and experience for the acceleration of development in Kotabaru district," said the acting regent of Kotabaru H Isra here on Sunday.

He said Kotabaru and Wakatobi have the same potential for marine tourism. If the potential in Kotabaru is properly managed, it is expected to support the movement of the economy better.

Isra hopes, Kotabaru to gather information and receive education in the approach to the central government for the development of maritime tourism sector and to promote to the world.

Wakatobi Secretary Sudjiton says, Wakatobi is a national park at the district in Southeast Sulawesi which has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve on July 11, 2012.

"The beauty of the underwater of Wakatobi has been known to the world community," said Sudjiton.

Wakatobi also has a coastal reef areas (coral reef) covering an area of 118,000 hectares. There is also the world's longest coral atoll along the 48 km called "Kaledupa Atoll".

"I think this Wakatobi is unique, because the region is also an area of Wakatobi National Park itself," Sudjiton explained.

He also explained his intention together with the Regional Government of Wakatobi to visit Kotabaru.
