Based on the results of monitoring conducted by BPS in three cities, South Kalimantan has recorded a deflation of 0.39 percent in February 2022 with a Consumer Price Index (IHK) of 110,13.
BPS in its official statistical news compiled by Antara in Banjarbaru Thursday reported that of three cities used to calculate CPI (IHK), two cities recorded deflation and one city experienced inflation.
"Banjarmasin and Kotabaru recorded a deflation of 0.49 percent anf 0.04 percent, and Tanjung recorded an inflation of 0.24 percent," said Head of South Kalimantan BPS Yos Rusdiansyah.
The deflation caused by price decline as indicated by three index of expenditure groups, namely food, beverage, and tobacco by 0.88 percent.
Then, the group of housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels 0.51 percent, and transportation group by 1.50 percent.
The highest contribution to deflation were air transportation, cooking oil, household fuel, eggs, cayenne pepper, squid, eggplant, pangasius fish, snakehead fish, and papaya.

Meanwhile, some commodities with rising price were spring onions, shallots, baung fish, men's and women's underwear, cucumbers, color tv, women's trouser/cotton, and mackerel.
Based on the calender year, South Kalimantan experienced an inflation of 0.59 percent in February 2022, year on year inflation rate (February 2022 to February 2021) of 2.79 percent.
In Kalimantan the highest inflation was in Sintang, West Kalimantan 0.32 percent. The highest inflation in Indonesia was in Kupang 0.65 percent and the lowest in Tanjung Selor 0.01 percent.
Meanwhile, the deepest deflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan 2.08 percent and the lowest in Palembang 0.01 percent.
