Mayor H Ibnu Sina here on Wednesday confirmed the extension of level 3 public activity restriction (PPKM) in Banjarmasin for 14 days after being implemented for the first time this year from February 15 to February 28, 2022.
He said the PPKM level 3 in the city was extended according to the instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) No. 14 of 2022 concerning the implementation of PPKM level 3 outside Java and Bali to stemming the COVID-19.
"According to the direction of Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, we are asked to remain disciplined about health protocols and COVID-19 vaccination," he pointed out.
Ibnu Sina expounded that even though the daily COVID-19 cases in Banjarmasin began to decline drasticaly, it did not became the basis for lowering the level of PPKM.
The reason, he explained, it was stated that the COVID-19 vaccination for elderly had not reached 60 percent from the total target of 45,000.

Looking at the Banjarmasin Health Office's data, the coverage of elderly vaccination has reached 51.50 percent of the first dose, 39.33 percent of the second dose, and 7.81 percent of the booster of the third dose.
Not only the elderly vaccination, said Ibnu Sina, the achievement of booster vaccination in general and vaccination of children are also assessed.
Child vaccination from about 800,000 targets has only been achieved 25.15 percent of the first dose, 4.20 percent of the second dose, and 6.34 percent of booster.
Today COVID-19 case in Banjarmasin based on South Kalimantan Health Office report there were an additional of 49 cases bringing the total to 21,003 cases. However 228 people were declared recovered, two more people died to make the total to 589.
