In the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Adaro's social responsibility is not only presented through the CSR programs in the community. It also shared valuable experiences regarding its contribution as a private sector.
Adaro contributed ideas and assistance, one of which through the success story of Open Tabalong District's Defecation Free (ODF) at the district level, province, national, and even international.
The success story of the Tabalong ODF declaration was implemented in October 2020 echoed through the archipelago.
Adaro as one of the actors of this successful history had received great attention from the local and central government. Adaro's intimate partnership with the government of Tabalong, South Kalimantan, was the key factor that had led 'Bumi Saraba Kawa' (Tabalong's nickname) to become the first ODF district in Kalimantan.
“The success of Tabalong as the first ODF district in Kalimantan was the result of the discipline in implementing the Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM) program that has been formulated by the Health Ministry, especially pillar 1,“ Zuraida Murdia Hamdie, CSR Department Head of Adaro Energy, expounded.
She said the success was realized because of the synergy among the local government, Adaro, various institutions, and media.
“This synergy is invaluable and can be a pathway to success elsewhere. Through this program, we are not only showing a real contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in goal 6 (Water and Sanitation), but also goal 17 (Partnerships for The Goals)," said Zuraida.

Throughout 2021, Adaro attended some health webinars held by the Health Ministry and UNICEF. Adaro was also invited to be a source person to share the keys to a successful collaboration with the government.
The 8TH National Conference on Health Promotion and the National Meeting of the Association of the Indonesian Public Health Educators and Promoters (PPPKMI) on November 16-18, 2021 provided a special space for Adaro to share its experience.
Adaro was also invited as one of the resource person for the Pokja AMPL (Working Group in Drinking Water and Environment Sanitation). A total of 13 districts/cities representative teams in South Kalimantan listened carefully to the presentation of the key for the success of the Pillar 1 STBM Program in the Tabalong district.
