"The district government's decision is very appropriate. I have long disagreed with face-to-face learning and I have spoken to the Commission II, whatever the reason," he said.
The health and safety of students, he emphasized, is a top priority. While the handling of COVID-19 is ongoing, face-to-face learning must be adjourned.
"Face-to-face learning can be carried out as long as the COVID-19 vaccination is complete and pandemic is over," he said.
Previously last May, Tapin Education Agency carried out face-to-face learning for elementary and junior high school, but not until the students went to school, the Tapin Regent canceled it..
"Well, our face-to-face learning is quite difficult, while in the center and several provinces the emergency PPKM are enforced. I don't dare say when, we'll see other areas first so we don't make a mistake," said Regent HM Arifin Arpan, at that time.
While some schools in South Kalimantan voiced face-to-face learning, the Regent still not giving permission for the implementation in his district.
Last Friday (July 2) it was recorded that 15,042 residents of Tapin had been administered the first dose and 7,067 people had finished with the second dose of vaccine. Head of Tapin Health Agency Alfian Yusuf said to achieve herd immunity at least 80-90 percent of the population have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
