The City Government of Banjarbaru has become a pioneer in South Kalimantan Province in providing COVID-19 vaccination for people with disabilities, especially people with visual impairments.
Banjarbaru Mayor H M Aditya Mufti Ariffin said that vaccination for people with disabilities and the elderly was conducted to prevent the transmission of the virus in these special circles.
"The providing of vaccination for disabilities is the first in South Kalimantan. The aim is to prevent them from the infection of the virus," said the Mayor after observing the vaccination for the disabled and elderly.

The activity which was held at the Banjarbaru Social Agency was attended by the Head of the Social Office Rokhyat Riyadi, Head of Health Agency Rizana Mirza, Assistant III Agus Widjaja, and 93 people with visual impairments took part.
According to Mayor, so far vaccination for persons with disabilities has not included in the criteria, but in the city of Banjarbaru, they become the priority to get the vaccination.
Head of Social Agency Rokhyat Riyadi said that the disabled who were vaccinated were previously registered by the urban village office and only those who were willing were vaccinated.
"We obtain the data of the people with a visual impairment from the urban village who registered them who were willing to be vaccinated. If they don't want or have a history of comorbidities, they were not allowed," he said.
