Head of the Banjarmasin Health Office Machli Riyadi stated that 2,400 medical personnel have been recorded to be the first COVID-19 vaccine.
"The number can be increased as data on health workers in several hospitals is still being collected," he said here, Tuesday.
According to him, medical personnel at the forefront of handling COVID-19 are the priority for the vaccination and have been proposed through an application of the Ministry of Health.
"There are 1,400 medics at 26 community health centers (puskesmas) and Sultan Suriansyah General Hospital, plus 1.000 from other hospitals and several health clinics in the city. Right now the data is still being collected," said Machli.
He also informed that the general public who were proposed to receive free COVID-19 vaccine totaled 427 thousand.
"Those who have been confirmed positive for COVID-19 and have recovered are no longer vaccinated," he said.
He pointed out that COVID-19 vaccines have begun to be distributed to South Kalimantan and Banjarmasin is ready to carry out the vaccination program, including human resources and storage place.
"We hope everyone will support this program because the vaccine has been declared to meet the requirements also halal," he said.

He also asked the public to strictly comply with the health protocol, because this virus continues to be life-threatening.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 cases in Banjarmasin City according to the data from the province of South Kalimantan as of January 3, 2021, a total of 4,049 people were confirmed positive, 3,700 people recovered, and 179 people died.
