After the implementation of three times Large Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) in Banjarmasin ended on May 31, 2020, a number of mosques in Banjarmasin City for the first time performed Friday Prayer in congregation (Shalat Jumat).
One of the mosques that was observed carrying out Friday Prayer was Al-Jihad on Jalan Cempaka Besar, Central Banjarmasin, Friday (June 5, 2020).
The Muhammadiyah mosque held the Friday Prayer by following health protocol to avoid transmission of COVID-19 virus, such as the saf (row) made with a distance to each other --not close as in normal situation.
"Only one entrance is opened. Every pilgrim enter must have his body temperature be checked," said one of the worshipers, Ari.
He also said that the performing of the congregational Shalat Jumat was also rather short than the normal times before the outbreak of COVID-19.
"Quite a lot of worshipers are present today," he said.

Banjarmasin spokesperson for the Task Force of COVID-19 Machli Riyadi acknowledged that the city government and the task force had indeed allowed a number of mosque to perform Shalat Jumat.
According to him, a pilot mosque has been set to every sub-district to perform Shalat Jumat that follow the health protocol as stipulated in the Minister of Religious Affairs Regulation No 15 of 2020.
"So that all mosques that have been designated as pilot in the sub-district set by the mayor really run the health protocol in a discipline. Otherwise they could become the locus for spreading the coronavirus," he said.
He appreciated the performing of Shalat Jumat at the Al-Jihad mosque that applied the COVID-19 health protocol, and expected other mosques to take the example.
