After about three months of coronavirus disease (COVID 19) outbreak in Indonesia, many companies and industries have suffered losses, even bankruptcy, including in North Hulu Sungai (HSU), South Kalimantan.

Chairwoman of the HSU Handicraft Council (Dekranasda) Hj Anisah Rasyidah Wahid said, as many as 2,571 small-medium industries (IKM) in the district have been affected and suffered losses due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

She in Amuntai on Thursday (April 16, 2020) said, based on preliminary data from the Industry, Trade, Cooperative, and SMEs Agency (Disperindagkop), the losses they suffered has reached IDR7.29 billion.

"Certainly as many as 3,560 workers who work in various small industries feel the impact as well," she said.

Anisah said, various types of small industries, such as tempeh and tofu, pastries, crackers, and various type of handicrafts experienced the impacts and losses due the COVID-19 pandemic.

The data from the agency also showed that small-medium industries suffered a decline in sales turnover as people's purchasing power decreasing, while cost of production increased due to the rising of raw material prices.

"IKM players also face obstacles in shipping goods due to the implementation of social distancing and others," Anisah said.
