The South Kalimantan Forestry Agency has developed planting chili movement to tackle inflation caused by the high price of chili in the province.

Head of the agency Hanif Faisol Nurrofiq in Banjarbaru on Thursday said that the agency has prepared as many as 144.560 chili seeds to suppport the movement.

All the seeds will be distributed to all civil servants (ASN) in South Kalimantan.

These efforts, Hanif said, are in anticipation of regional inflation caused by the production of chili that was not smooth, as happened in 2019.

Based on data of the development of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), South Kalimantan inflation in 2019, as released by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) stood at 3,07 percent.

Commodities with the highest share of inflation were house rates, clove cigarettes and filter clove cigarettes, hot chili pepper, and red chili.

The chili seedlings are the result of a nursery by the Forestry Agency, while the seeds are obtained from the assistance of the South Kalimantan Agriculture, Food Crops and Horticulture Agency.
