The North Hulu Sungai (HSU) Education Office rejected holiday for elementary (SD) and junior high school (SMP) amid the outbreak of coronavirus disease (CoVid-19).
"Please do not use the word holiday. We do not dismiss learning activities, but learning process is carried out from each student's home," said Head of the HSU Education Office Rahmat in Amuntai.
Until Monday (March 23, 2020), he said, the office was still working on the distance learning system between school teachers and students to make learning activities remain effective.
On the same day, the Regent of HSU H Abdul Wahid has signed a circular No 360/66/BPBD/2020 about preventing the spread of COVID-19 within the education environment.

Education units ranging from early childhood learning center (PAUD), SD, Islamic Elementary School (MI) to SMP or equal to carry out distance learning without students having to come to school.
The schools were asked to arrange the technical distance learning immediately both through patterns in or outside the network by utilizing services provided by various providers and the Ministry of Education and culture free of charge according to provisions.

"Through the circular, educators are also asked to give special attention to VI and IX grade students who will soon take the Computer-Based National Exam (UNBK)," Rahmat explained.
In distance learning, teachers are required to actively communicate with students' parents. Likewise, parents are asked to actively supervise their children, so that the objectives of the distance learning will be achieved.
