Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor has comitted to boost independence of the people with disabilities through vocational training and working capital in various sectors.

In the commemoration of International Disability Day in Banjarmasin, Friday (Nov 22, 2019), he said, the provincial govenment keeps it effort to provide equity rights to people with disabilities in the form of access to education, economy, employment, and various other supporting facilities.

His government, he assured, will increase the budget if needed as a tangible manifestation of it concern.

In front of hundreds of people with disabilities, the governor also asked the government through related agencies to pay more attention to the needs of persons with disabilities, by giving them equal rights to gain easy access to education, economy, employment, sport, and various other supporting accesses.

The provincial government in fulfilling this, he added, have conducted diverse programs of training for people with disabilities, such as sewing, and vehicle repair shop training.

He also appealed to all offices in South Kalimantan to provide road access for people with disabilities. 

"Yes, today is a day full of excitement for our brothers and sisters with disabilities. I hope it become our togetherness to raise the dignity of generation that is considered superior," he pointed out.

One of persons with disabilities, Supriyanto, owner of a vehicle repair shop training, told he had previouly received training of workshop in Solo with facilities from the government.

He hoped, the related office to be more focus in providing training. "The government has cares enough about the interest of people with disabilities, it's just the training would better be given until we are skilled," he said. 

If not given completely, he added, it will be in vain, because the result will be not optimal when participants go down to work, while work aid tools provided will be in vain, or even feared to be sold.

In the series of the commemoration, the governor, Chairwoman of TP-PKK, and the provincial working units along with hundreds of people with disabilities took part in a healthy walk started from zero kilometer to Jalan Sudirman, Jalan DI Panjaitan, then returned to zero kilometer Banjarmasin.
