The Kotabaru District Government is now waiting the waves to calm down to send heavy equipments to Matasirih, Pulau Sembilan sub-district, to open up access road cut off by landslide.
"We will send heavy equipment after waves no longer high," said the Regent of Kotabaru Sayed Jafar when he visited the island with some officials, Wednesday.

Landslide and flush flood hit two villages, Teluk Sungai and Labuan Barat, in Matasirih in April 2019. At least 20 points of landslide mostly effected people settlement. Teens of houses have damaged, two access roads cut off, and several bridges need to be repaired.
In addition to Matasirih, the regent entourage also came to Marabatuan Island and Maradapan Island.

The government visit was intended to absorb people aspiration, as well as to review public services in remote islands. The regent also conveyed some assistance, included an aid to rehabilate class rooms in some schools, insurance card for fishermen, and solar lamps.
