Village cadre who exist in managing waste

Tanjung, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - "Clean is part of the faith," said Tuti.

This expression is the motivation of Tuti Mardiani to invite residents of Kuranji Village, Tabalong District, to behave cleanly by not littering.

Even though only a housewife, she supports environmental activities by managing a waste bank along with mothers who are equally committed to creating a clean Kuranji Village.

This village in Tanjung Subdistrict is a densely populated residential area, so that garbage becomes a serious problem.

Based on that concern, Tuti was moved to invite the residents of her home village to overcome the garbage problem.

"Concerned about seeing a dirty village environment is a motivation for waste bank management," said the woman born May 15, 1971.

The strong commitment from Tuti also received citizen support until in 2016 the Anggrek Waste Bank was formed and had a permanent building.

At present there are around 30 families involved in managing the waste bank with a turnover of around Rp1 million per month.

While Kuranji Village now becomes cleaner from inorganic waste such as plastic, paper, and bottles.

Tuti, who is believed to have served as director of the garbage bank, has twice been assessed to Adipura. She was trusted as the 2017 Clean Village Cadre.

Meanwhile, the Adaro Bangun Negeri Foundation (YABN) provides support with guidance and assistance with facilities. The weighing tool at the Anggrek Waste Bank, said Tuti, is one of the equipment aids from the YABN.

Seeing the sincerity and commitment of this woman in supporting the government's program to realize a clean and green city, YABN designated her as the best cadre in the environment.

In addition to sharing experiences in managing waste banks, Tuti provides training in making bags from non-plastic materials, compost to recycling as part of her commitment to participate in the environment.
