Barabai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Soldiers were forced to dismantle the house of Sopyan (45), a resident of Awang Village, Batang Alai Utara Subdistrict, whose roof was leaking and the wall was hollow, Tuesday (10/16).
The reason is Sopyan's house is one of three houses targetted to be renovated(bedah rumah) in the 103rd TNI Integrated Village Development (TMMD) program in 2018 in the Central Hulu Sungai District (HST).
The 1002 Barabai Military Commander (Dandim) Lieutenant Colonel Inf Nur Rohman Zein said Sopyan's house had indeed been rotten and was almost no longer suitable as a place to live.
The condition of the roof made of sago palm leaves has been leaking and if the rain the occupants surely will be caught in the rain.
While the floor and walls are made of boards that are hollow and fragile, so it is very dangerous if not replaced as soon as possible.
At the house, Sopyan and his wife lived with three children. He works as a farmer and does not have a fixed income, so to rehabilitate his own home is not able.
With the TMMD program, Sopyan's house will be built in the size of 4x6 meters and complete with a toilet and zinc roof that is more suitable for them to live.
"Hopefully by building a more decent house, it can add happiness to the family and motivate them more to work hard and life becomes more successful," said the Dandim.
Sopyan admitted that he was very happy and thanked the TMMD Task Force who had rehabilitated his house and promised to take care and keep it as well as possible.
In addition to the home renovation, the 103rd TMMD activity in HST is to build a 2.1-kilometer road and 5.6 meters wide in Awang Village, Batang Alai Utara. TMMD activities take place from 15 October to 13 November 2018 with various physical and non-physical activities involving around 250 members of the TNI, Polri, local government, and the local community.
