"To reduce the slums, the area was included in the Slum City Program (Kotaku)," said Kotaku coordinator for Banjarmasin Pendy Hariyadi to the press at City Hall on Thursday.
The Kotaku program enters Banjarmasin with the goal of reducing slums by improving the area's facilities for the better, such as garbage, sewage, drainage, and roads. For the riverbank, the target is to build a footbridge.
Kotaku also handles sanitation through a waste collection system for every two houses one place of waste which is then disposed of.
In 2018, Kotaku program receives foreign aid amounting to Rp34.6 billion for 36 urban villages in Banjarmasin.
While the physical slums, such as housing, will be handled by each unit of local apparatus (SKPD), such as the agency that handles housing and the other that handles clean water.
