Barabai, S Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Nateh Village, East Batang Alai Subdistrict (BAT) in Central Hulu Sungai (HST), offers a rafting adventure while cruising along the river using inflatable raft boats.
On the left and right side of the river seen a harmonious scenery of rock mountain and beautiful natural scenery with clear water.
According to one of the community leaders of Nateh Village, Arbain, the attraction, which located about 35 Kilo meters from the capital city of Barabai, began to open at the beginning of Idul fitri 1439 H.
"The rapids tours are managed by youths who are members of the Nateh Village Forest Management (LPHD) and I am as chairman," he said on Monday (23/7).
Visitors who will do the adventure will be transported first by car to downstream. They then crusing along the river Batang Alai for about half an hour in an exciting adventure then finish in front of the Nateh Village office.
"We have five rubber boats available now that are grants from the Hall of Social Forestry and Environment Partnership (BPSKL) of the Ministry of Forestry and Environment for the area of Kalimantan," he said.
One way cost Rp150 thousand. One boat loaded six people and each boat is equipped with safety, such as buoys and others. WC and bathroom facilities are also provided.
BPSKL staff Agus Karyono said the 30 youth who manage the tour were trained for two days since Monday in a basic rafting technique school.
"The instructor is from the Indonesian Rafting Federation (FAJI) who trains basic materials, history, SOP, water recue and excellent service to visitors," he said.
The youth who became the guide are also trained how to manage the object of tourism till in the future able to produce creative economy.
