Rantau, S Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The government of Tapin District dispersed snakehead fish seeds in Pabaungan Pantai Village, South Candi Laras Subdistrict (CLU), Wednesday (15/11), in an effort to support the cultivation of the local fish.
Head of Tapin Fisheries Agency H Bastian said the spread of snakehead fish (locally known as haruan) seeds is as a serious support for Pembauangan Pantai as a central and the preservation of the fish in Tapin and South Kalimantan.
"Today we are with the Regent and the CLU consultative forum (Muspika) spread 100 kg of local fish of haruan type to increase production and preservation," he said.
The spread of these fish is done in the artificial lakes and residents' wells also to be able to improve the economy of the community.
"We want every home to cultivate 80 fish because the haruan fish sold in Rantau market mostly come from Pabaungan Pantai village," said the head of the agency again.
Regent H Arifin Arpan said he was proud of the people of Pabauangan Pantai because they care about the preservation of snakehead fish.
"Pabaungan Pantai Village is the largest haruan producer in Tapin, and all of the haruan fish in Tapin markets are the production and catch of this village," said Regent.
On that occasion, the Regent reminded the people not to exploit the fish unnaturally which could impact the destruction of the environment and the sustainability of the local fish habitat itself.
"Let's support this government program by not exploiting fish with unlawful behavior such as electrofishing, poisoning, and others," the Regent appealed.
