Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan 1/10 (AntaranewsKalsel) - People rushed to throng around some rollerskate police for a selfie right after they saw them at the location of car-free day area at river embankment attraction (siring) on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Banjarmasin.
"The residents so enthusiastic and happy with the presence of rollerskate police, so every time we patrol the lot always ask for a picture," said Head Unit I Traffic Education Directorate of Traffic Police Adj Comr (AKP) Indra Agung SIK here on Monday.
According to Indra, the community's desire for a common photo is fair and for the skate wheel patrol team, it is part of a humanist service.
"The blending of members and citizens reflected in the presence of the roller skate patrol team has become our goal so that people are really happy and feel the police are present in the community," he said.
A team of 12-roller skate police is routinely patrolling the car-free day every Sunday morning in downtown Banjarmasin.
With a majority of policewomen as it members, the newly formed patrol team carries out community service and traffic smoothness arrangements.
Among the team's duties is to sympathetically reprimand the illegal parking and curb street vendors (PKL) in synergy with Transportation Agency (Dishub) and Public Order Agency (Satpol PP).
"We are also improving the service through the distribution of member cards to create WhatsApp messenger group (WA) with the community as a means of two-way communication," said Indra.
Meanwhile, one resident of Banjarmasin Reny Puspita admitted the presence of roller skate police making herself and other people no longer afraid of being close to the police.
"It's nice there is a team of roller skates police, the community so good communication with the police, either ask for help or report other things, especially the officers are beautiful and handsome," she said.
