Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto summoned several economic ministers to his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, on Sunday afternoon to discuss Indonesia’s strategic response to upcoming economic negotiations with the United States.
"The president highlighted two key points during the meeting," Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said in a statement from Jakarta.
The first point was ensuring that every position Indonesia takes in economic negotiations with any country serves the national interest.
The immediate focus is on preparing for the economic negotiations with the United States, which are set to begin soon, Teddy added.
"A deal with the United States, especially in the near future, is the best and most beneficial for Indonesia," he emphasized.

According to Teddy, the president aims for every negotiation to boost domestic industrial productivity while strengthening Indonesia’s position in the global industrial supply chain.
Secondly, economic cooperation should go beyond short-term objectives and help strengthen the structural base of the national industry.
Furthermore, Prabowo emphasized that every economic policy adopted by the government must deliver concrete benefits to Indonesia without delay.
These directives serve as guidelines for ministers to formulate strategic steps that are swift, measurable, and have a direct impact on national economic growth, Teddy said.
Present at the meeting were Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.
President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to visit the United States on February 19, 2026, to sign a reciprocal trade agreement (ART) with President Donald Trump and attend the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace.
Coordinating Minister Hartarto said that the details of the tariff agreement are still pending finalization, adding that Indonesian export tariffs to the United States have been reduced from 32 percent to 19 percent. He urged the public to wait for the completion of the process.
