Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - Banjarmasin Government, through the city's Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement Team (TP-PKK) showcased fashion creation from recycled waste made into charming clothes.
Took place at the yard of Central Banjarmasin Sub-district Office, Thursday (September 4, 2025), the fashion show was to mark the 499th anniversary of the city as well as an effort to address the city's waste emergency situation.
Hj Neli Listriani, Chairperson of Banjarmasin Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement Team (TP-PKK), here on Thursday said this event was to encourage creativity in waste recycling.
"The clothes presented by the designers, made from recycled waste, are beatiful. We appreciate their works," she said.

she underscored that fashion show was held to encourage people utilize waste, so as not to be a problem for the city, especially plastic waste into various creation with economic value.
She said, since the Basirih final waste disposal site (TPAS) was closed by the Ministry of Environment on February 1, 2025, the city have increased waste sorting at the source.
The initiative to encourage waste sorting, including by hundreds of waste banks, TPS-3R (waste processing by reduce, reuse, and recycle) and sorting houses in every urban village, had a significant impact to reduce waste disposal to the regional waste disposal TPAS Banjabakula, owned by provincial government, in Banjarbaru.
She believes the most creative way to recycle waste was to turn it into clothing, like this ones featured in this fashion show, and there were quite a lot.
"This is as a gift for our city which is almost half a century old on September 24, 2025," she said.
The city holds various festivities in celebrating its anniversary, including culinary festival, art week, orchid festival, and decorated jukung or traditional motorboat parade on Martapura River.
