Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - Regent of Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, H Sayed Jafar has inaugurated dock in Kotabaru Hilir Urban Village, Pulau Laut Sigam Sub-district, to support smooth sea transportation and facilitate local government access to serve the public.
"This dock in expected to have an impact on making it easier for local government to carry out duties and functions. Especially this facility will be used for storage and maintenance of speedboats belonging to Kotabaru government for smooth operation in areas that use sea transportation," said the Regent, Thursday.
The pier is also expected to support mobility and efficient use of operational sea transportation as well as various assets to support development programs and better public services to the community.
The inauguration was marked with cutting a ribbon, signing an inscription, and releasing balloons into the air by Regent H Sayed Jafar accompanied by Chairwoman of Family Empowerment and Welfare (PKK) Driving Team Hj Fatma Idiana.

She appreciated all efforts made by the government and related parties in realizing the construction of this dock.
"Hopefully this dock will be as useful as possible for the progress of our region," she said.
Head of Transportation Office Khairian Ansari said that the dock was built with the 2024 Kotabaru APBD (local budget) amounting Rp4.6 billion.
With a length of 6.5 meters, the dock is equipped with various facilities, one of which is a warehouse for fleet docking purpose.
For the time being, the integrated dock is being used by the Transportation Office, Public Order (Satpol PP) and Fire Brigade Agency, BPBD (Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency), and Fisheries Office. The dock can also be used by other agencies to support the government activities.
“We would like to thank the Regent who has been highly committed to developing the transportation in the district, one of which is sea transportation,” said Khairian Ansari.
