Martapura, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - The Banjar Administration held durian contest to find asuper seeds and at once to improve quality and the economic value of the typical fruit.
"We want to find a super local durian seeds to be developed, thus increasing its economic value," said Regent Banjar Khalilurrahman on the sidelines of the contest in Martapura, Tuesday.
Durian contest held in the courtyard of gem shopping center Cahaya Bumi Selamat and at the same time held wadai badurian (cakes made of durian) contest.
He said, the contest is expected to elect durian fruit whose flesh is thick, sweet with typically flavorful, so it can be a super seeds to bring into national contest.
Besides, the contest winner certainly carries the name of the village and became more famous to be hunted when durian season comes.
Head of Banjar Food Crops and Horticulture Agency M Fachri said as many as 44 varieties of durian from villages of durian centers took part in the contest.
Meanwhile, the jury selected the first winner what was named by owner as "Durian Pengantin" or bride durian, which only grows from one tree in the village of Balau, Karang Intan.
Second Place was "Nangka Kulanda" durian of Sungai Pinang and durian "sibongkok" from Sambung Makmur as the third winner.
