Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (ANTARA) - The South Kalimantan Health Office recorded that 80,812 children in Banjarmasin City had received polio vaccine or 93 percent from the target of 86,471 children as of August 3, 2024.
A number of community health centers or puskesmas in the city had met or even exceeded the target, said the city government in its written statement here on Monday (August 5, 2024).
Cempaka Community Health Center (Puskesmas) in Central Banjarmasin was the most active with a polio immunization rate of 112 percent.
Followed by S. Parman Puskesmas 107 percent, Sungai Andai (101 percent), Teluk Dalam (100 percent), Gadang Hanyar (98 percent), Kayu Tangi (98 percent), and Beruntung Raya (98 percent).
However, several puskesmas had achievement below 80 percent, namely Terminal around 77 percent and Pekapuran Raya 74 percent.
Based on this data, Banjarmasin had achieved a positive target when compared with 12 other city and districts in South Kalimantan.
Banjarmasin government was still pursuing a coverage index target of 95 percent before welcoming the second phase of the National Polio Immunization Week (PIN) 2024 which will be starting Tuesday (August 6, 2024).
The city government expected that parents' enthusiasm and role will push participation in polio immunization for children aged 0-7 .
