Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Water Police Unit (Satpolair) Banjarmasin Police are investigating allegations of fishermen who fish in a way prohibited or illegal fishing in the local town.
"We got information that there was a bombing on Martapura River. As a quick response to reports, members immediately went to the scene," said Chief of Police Polair unit Untung Widodo Shh AKP Banjarmasin in Banjarmasin on Tuesday.
He said, after coming to the scene on the river Martapura, precisely under the Pasar Lama Bridge, Central Banjarmasin, police found no such fish bombing.
"The report we got from a fisherman, but after being cross-checked in the field there are no such fish bombing activities anymore," he said.
But it did not end here. Police asked fishermen who were fishing in the area related to the fish bombing activities. From the results of the investigation, it turned out that illegal activities was no longer there and the identity of the perpetrator was unknown.
"We urge and remind the fishermen and residents of coastal rivers do not ever take fish by prohibited, such as electric shocks, poisoned and bomb fish. If found to be directly dealt with firmly by the rules of law," he said.
The first officer who usually called Untung said water police will continue to conduct patrols and surveillance in the area of Banjarmasin, and people should report it quickly when they see crime in the territorial waters.
