Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Observation Disease, Immunization and Dimension Health Sector P2PL Section Chief of South Kalimantan Health Agency Dr Sri Wahyu said the province was listed as having the highest hypertensive patients nationwide.
This, she said in Banjarmasin on Thursday, caused by food pattern and lifestyle of South Kalimantan people who like sweet, fatty, and salty is not matched with vegetables and exercise.
"Due to the unbalanced food pattern, South Kalimantan is now listed as having the highest number of people with hypertension or high blood nationally," she said.
Not only hypertension, the death rate from stroke in South Kalimantan is also the highest nationally. Such conditions, she said, due to the levels of education and public awareness is still very low.
Based on data from basic medical research, some non-communicable diseases are the cause of death in South Kalimantan, namely diabetes mellitus 2 percent of the population, and hypertension reached 30.8 percent, stroke 9.2 percent, 1.6 per cent of cancer, and coronary heart disease 0.5 percent.
While the data in real patients with hypertension by district and city in South Kalimantan in 2015, the city of Banjarmasin is the highest ie 18,730 hypertensive patients, followed by Tanah Laut as many as 14,121 people.
Then Banjar 7,738 patients, Kotabaru 6,680 patients, 5,629 patients in Banjarbaru, Tapin 3,085 people, Barito Kuala 2,985 people and the rest ranging from 2,500 to over a thousand people.
While stroke in Banjarmasin city as many as 283 people and as many as 191 people in Banjarbaru.
According to Yuni, non-communicable diseases is like an iceberg. The symptoms are not readily apparent, but its impact could be very dangerous and even cause death.
