Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - Regent Kotabaru H Sayed Jafar said his company has built a special ferry to realize sea toll to support the central government program launched by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
"The ferry ship that we produce has the ability to operate in waters with waves up to 5 meters," the regent said here Thursday.
While waves in the Pulau Sembilan waters and surrounding reach 4-5 meters in certain seasons. Conditions that may be dangerous for small boats.
According to him, the ferry ships produced by company that once he led will be operated for Lontar, West Pulaulaut - Pulau Sembilan.
"At present the voyage from Pulau Sembilan takes 19 hours to Kotabaru. But if the ferry boat which specifically designed operates it will shorten the journey time to only 3 hours," he explained.
Sayed Jafar, who claims to have handed the shipyard leadership to his brother , said the company has produced ferry boats forPort of Ketapang, Banyuwangi - Gilimanuk, Bali.
"When we heard there was a ferry boat sank in Gilimanuk, we were afraid that the ship belongs to us. Alhamdulillah, it was not. Our ship operates as usual," said the regent who is doing business in fuel, marine transportation, and shipbuilding.
