Banjarmasin, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - PT PLN (Persero) together with PT Adhi Karya Tbk (Persero) conducted a trial of utilizing fly ash and bottom ash (FABA) from Asam Asam coal-fired power plant (PLTU) on road preservation project in South Kalimantan.
"PLN in this collaboration send 140 tons of FABA to Adhi Karya, to be then used as a substitute for cement in concrete mixture in infrastructure project," said General Manager of PLN's Generation and Distribution Main Unit (UIKL) Kalimantan Daniel Eliawardhana in Pelaihari, Wednesday.
FABA, especially that produced by PLTU, is currently being used intensively, is categorized as non-hazardous and non-toxic (B3) waste.
Daniel expounded that Asam-asam power plant with a capacity of 4x65 mega watt in Tanah Laut District produces 160 tons FABA per day in it production process.
“PLN cooperates with various parties in the utilization of FABA from coal combustion for various raw material for construction and infrastructure around the PLTU Asam-asam,” he said.
Daniel added that currently at PLTU Asam-asam there are 500,000 tons of FABA stock. Besides being used by Adhi Karya, FABA is also used by surrounding communities and MSMEs to be processed into paving block and concrete bricks (batako).
"We proactively invite regional governments, MSMEs, BUMDes, and community groups to use FABA as environmentally friendly product and has multiplier effects in increasing contribution to the
economic sector," said Daniel.
In accordance with the 4M (easy, cheap, qualty, and massive) spirit of utilizatio, PLN ensures that all terms and approval have been met according to the national standard and regulation that refer to the best available international standard engineering procedures(BAT) and the best environmental practices (BEP).
