Pelaihari, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The District Government of Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan, and PT PLN Persero of Asam-Asam Power Management Unit (UPK) signed an MoU for utilization of fly ash bottom ash (FABA) from the coal-fired power plant (PLTU) of Asam Asam.
"FABA from the remaining of coal combustion at the PLTU Asam-Asam is no longer categorized as B3 (the hazardous and toxic waste) because it is used as supporting material for infrastructure and others," said the Tanah Laut District Secretary H Dahnial Kifli.
He said this to the press after the seminar on the use of FABA in accelerating the regional economy and the signing of MOU between the Tanah Laut government and PT PLN of Asam-Asam Power Management Unit.

Manager of PT PLN of Asam-Asam Power Management Unit Dani Esa W explained that the use of FABA has complied with the regulatory provisions and does not cause dangerous effects.
The cooperation of PT PLN UPK Asam-Asam with the Tanah Laut government, he said, is to open the widest use of FABA to the public and SMEs in the district.
"This mutual agreement is important and can be of economic value in accelerating the regional development and community empowerment," he said.
