Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (AntaranewsKalsel) - PT Pelindo III Banjarmasin along with South Kalimantan National Zakat Agency (Baznas) distributed thousands of free foodstuff or sembako packages to needy people around the company.
General Manager of Pelindo III Banjarmasin Hengki Jajang Herasmanahere on Friday said the distribution of free foodstuff as a manifestation of the company's concern for the needy people.
"Ahead of Ramadan, usually staple goods prices rise dramatically, we expect the distribution of free foodstuff will help ease the burden on people," he said.
All 1,900 food packages were distributed. 400 packets of Baznas and 1,500 packets from a Pelindo's CSR program. Each package contains rice, cooking oil, sugar, instant noodles and soy sauce. Package worth Rp100 thousand given to 1,700 recipients in Banjarmasin and 200 in the Pulang Pisau port area, Central Kalimantan.
Free foodstuff give away is the fourth time for Pelindo III Banjarmasin in the partnership program and community development for the community around the port, unloading workers, security officers to sanitation force.
"This should be followed by other companies to help the community, with the condition of the increase in prices of basic needs ahead of Ramadan and the demands of a large school fees," said Deputy Mayor Irwan Ansari.
