Kotabaru, South Kalimantan (Antaranews Kalsel) - Regent Kotabaru Irhami Ridjani asks the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister to support local government programs to conserve mangrove forests.
"We are looking forward to the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti to support local government programs, namely to preserve the mangrove forests by way of replanting mangroves in the coastal area or the marginalized," he said in Kotabaru on Saturday.
The support, he said, could be in funding the provision of infrastructure, especially in tourist locations mangrove forest in the Langadai village and some other areas.
Previously, cement industry PT Indocment Tunggal Prakarsa Tarjun, Tbk in cooperation with villagers of Langadai, Kelumpang Hilir, Kotabaru, planted 5,000 mangrove seedlings to rehabilitate and maintain the area's ecosystems.
"Besides aiming for mangrove rehabilitation, this event is also open new business opportunities for the people in the fostered village," said SSECSR Dept. Head PT ITP Teguh Iman Basuki.
He explained Kotabaru is an area rich with mangrove forests that sustainability should be kept together.
Regent Irhami responded positively to the company's concern about the preservation of the environment, particularly in the rehabilitation of mangrove forests in the Langadai village, Kelumpang Hilir.
He asked the company and the community to not only develop mangrove tours, but also other coastal plants, such as palm nypa and Rambai.
