Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - Head of Banjarmasin Environmental Agency H Hamdi revealed air in the capital province of South Kalimantan is increasingly filled with dust pollution that is
harmful to health.
"Air quality in the city is still far from normal threshold for health, one of the causes is dust pollution," he said while in Banjarmasin DPRD on Monday.
These conditions, according to the former head of Sanitation and Gardening Agency (DKP), is very troubling. Average points of control exercised air pollution threshold detected exceeded the quality standard, 230 micrograms per cubic meter.
"Air pollution is above threshold is not good to health if inhaled, "he said.
Very high dust pollution points are in South Ring Road, South Banjarmasin, where full of large motorized transport traffic passing.
He said, there are six points of air pollution control always monitored every six months, namely at Jalan Brig Hasan Bari, Lambung Mangkurat, Jalan Sultan Adam, Pangeran Samudera, South Ring Road, Jalan Belitung and Jalan Ahmad Yani.
According to him, acute respiratory infections (ARI) at this time, as if it has become a trend that is mostly due to unhealthy air condition because of the dust.
There should be pattern of supervision and regulation to activities that lead to dust, such as project backfilling of the building, the land should not be littering the road, he said.
