Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (Antaranews) - South Kalimantan Governor Rudy Ariffin claimed the Ministry of Transportation has granted permission for immediate construction of the Syamsudin Noor airport expansion.
Permission was published after most of the problems that hinder the expansion of the airport completed.
Governor said here on Sunday, groundbreaking is planned to be in April, but because of the general election activities expected to be held in May.
Governor was not sure when the date of execution of these activities, it has not scheduled yet.
Airport expansion has now been in the process of land acquisition by Team 9. Process of environmental impact assessment has been carried out and submitted to PT Angkasa Pura 1, state-run airport operator.
The development was planned to be completed in 2016. Terminal passengers will expand from 9,043 square meters to 90,000 square meters. And apron from 80,412 m2 to 125,412 m2, so it will be able to accommodate 20 aircrafts.
The development of the airport is estimated to cost up to Rp1,5 billion. It will be realized in 2014 to Rp200 billion, Rp500 billion then in 2015 and 2016 amounting to Rp400 billion. The entire development will be completed in 2016.
