Head of South Kalimantan Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Diah Utami, who was with the governor, said the SP2020 combines an online data collecting and door to door interview.
The online data collecting begins on February 15, 2020 to end on March 31, 2020. People here can actively and independently fill out their own data through https://sensus.bps.go.id.
While the manual census will involve 6,320 workers, who will go directly to residents' houses throughout the province, starting March 1 until July 31, 2020.
According to Diah, the population census is carried out every 10 years and the SP2020 plays a pivotal role in providing data toward one data of Indonesia's demography.
"The online census is the first time we carried out and the program is expected to facilitate officers and the public, so the data collection will be done faster," she said.
The BPS uses the existing demography data, such as the citizen identity numbers (NIK) or Family Card (KK) numbers, and the fill out is added with housing, education, and job data.
"We hope the regional government to actively assist the process of population data collection, especially when conducting verification through direct interview with residents," she said.

Governor Sahbirin Noor asked all South Kalimantan residents to support the census program by providing correct data.
"Let's register our identities to support the data collection process, so we know for sure how many is our population and the state will have to do with the data," he insisted.
Through updating the population data, the government in the future will be easier to make policies, starting from planning and evaluation by knowing the needs, characteristics, and the number of population in an area.
Previously, based on 2020 BPS data, the total population of South Kalimantan was 3,6 million and in 2020 it is estimated that the growth ot the population to reach 4,2 million.
