Kotabaru, S Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The District of Kotabaru was named as the second best region in implementing no smoking area for the provincial level of South Kalimantan in the year of 2019.
For this title, Kotabaru was awarded by the Ministry of Health and it was handed over by the ministry's Head of R&D during the 55th National Health Day 2019 of South Kalimantan Province in Rattan Inn Hotel Banjarmasin, Thursday.
Head of Kotabaru Health Office H Akhmad Rivai expressed his gratitude to the people of Kotabaru for making health culture without smoking.
It showed that the people have implemented the Kotabaru District Regulation No.19/2015 on No Smoking Area, a follow up to Law No.36/2009 on Health and Joint Regulation of Health Minister and Home affairs Minister No.188/MENKES/PB/I/2011 and No.7/2011 on Guideline of No Smoking Area Implementation.
"The implementation of no smoking area aims to provide affective protection from the danger of exposure of cigarette smoke," Rivai pointed out.

The district government, some of which, provides clean and health space and environment for the residents, protecting the public health in general from the adverse effect of smoking, both directly and indirectly, creating clean and healthy environment, free of cigarette smoke, fulfilling sense of security and comfort for other people, and increase awareness, willingness, and ability to live healthy.

The no smoking areas determined by the regent includes health service facilities, teaching and learning places, children playgrounds, places of worship, public transportation, workplaces, public places such as lodging, inn, hotels, terminals (land, sea, and air), cafe/restaurant, beauty salon, sporthall, conference/meeting hall, and other designated locations.
